The addition of a Solenoid Valve in conjunction with a standard plug in timer (available separately) allows you to halt the flow of CO2 at night when plants don't require it, effectively doubling the lifespan of your CO2 cylinders.
In the absence of light as an energy source, plants cease to absorb CO2 while continuing to release it. Consequently, planted aquariums do not require a substantial supply of CO2 during night-time hours. The installation of a Solenoid Valve into your CO2 system performs this process automatically.
